Law Society Congratulates Past Presidents on Judicial Appointments
THE LAW SOCIETY of Alberta congratulates two past presidents on their appointments as Justices on the Court of Queen’s Bench in Lethbridge and Edmonton.
The Honourable Rodney A. Jerke, a lawyer, associate and partner with Davidson & Williams LLP since 1981 was appointed Judge of the Court of Queen’s Bench in Lethbridge. He received a B.Sc. with distinction from the University in Lethbridge in 1976 and a LL.B. with distinction from the University of Alberta in 1979. He was admitted to the Alberta bar in 1980 and appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1998.
He was a Bencher for the Law Society from 2004 - 2010, President of Pro Bono Law Alberta from 2007- 2009, and President of the Law Society from 2010-2011.
The Honourable Peter B. Michalyshyn, a lawyer with Chatwin LLP was appointed Justice with the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta in Edmonton. He received a B.A. in 1982 and a LL.B. in 1988 from the University of Alberta. He earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University in 1983. He was admitted to the Alberta bar in 1989 and appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2004.
He has been an Executive Member of the CBA since 1989, a member of the Criminal Trial Lawyers’ Association from 1989 to 1992, and President of the Law Society of Alberta from 2009-2010.
