Student Recruitment Dates

The 2014 recruitment period will be from June 2 - June 13, 2014. Employers may only make offers of employment after 8 a.m. on the second Tuesday of the recruitment period (June 10).

These offers must remain open for acceptance for 24 hours. For further information, please refer to Rule 49.1 and 49.2.


Expansion of Commercial/Duty Justice Initative

Effective May 1, 2014, subject to the limitations attached, the Commercial/Duty initiative will include certain non-insolvency commercial cases. This initiative, designed to augment previous practice, offers litigants the option of booking non-insolvency commercial matters before a Justice in ordinary Chambers/Special Chambers or before a Justice who is a member of the Court’s Commercial Practice Group. Civil Enforcement Act - Amendments

Amendments to the Civil Enforcement Act have been proclaimed and will be in effect April 1, 2014. Section 92.1 of the Civil Enforcement Act is amended to provide that property in a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) and any payments or refund of payments out of a RESP to or for a beneficiary to further the beneficiary’s post-secondary education are exempt from creditors. Any other payments or refund of payments out of a RESP are not exempt.
