Notice of Suspension - Darrell Elgert
On May 7, 2012, a Hearing Committee found the conduct of Darrell Elgert, a suspended member who lives and formerly practised in Edmonton, Alberta, to be deserving of sanction on three citations.
The matters in which his conduct was found to be deserving of sanction included: failing to serve his client in a conscientious, diligent and efficient manner, failing to respond to his client’s communications in a complete and appropriate manner on a timely basis, failing to respond to the Law Society on a timely basis and in a complete and appropriate manner.
The Hearing Committee ordered, pursuant to Section 72(1)(b) of the Legal Profession Act R.S.A. 2000, c. L-8, that Mr. Elgert be suspended for 15 days from the day of the hearing. The Hearing Committee also ordered Mr. Elgert to pay the costs of the hearing set in the amount of $3,814.55.
Mr. Elgert practised with partners who continue to maintain responsibility for his files.
