Assist helps Alberta lawyers, articling students, law students and their immediate families cope with personal problems such as stress, depression, anxiety, alcohol, drug and all other forms of abuse or addiction, relationship difficulties, burnout and anger.
The program is voluntary and confidential. Individuals seeking help are not identified to the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association or any other entity.
Call Assist 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 1.877.498.6898 from anywhere in Alberta for on-call support, emergency help or to set up an appointment with a counsellor.
The first four hours of professional assistance supplied by Assist are free of charge. After that, the individual is responsible for costs incurred.
Assist is operated by the Alberta Lawyers’ Assistance Society, a non-profit society that is independent from the Law Society of Alberta.
