Lawyer Programs
We offer a variety of programs to support you in both providing legal services to clients and developing your own legal career.
Mentorship
Looking to participate in a mentorship but not sure what Law Society program is right for you? Check out this overview chart, watch the video below or visit the webpages listed below.
Mentor Connect | A mentorship program where mentors and mentees alike can join to get matched based on areas of law, geographical proximity, personal experience and similar interests. |
Mentor Express | A mentorship program with less long-term commitment. You browse an online gallery and self-match by choosing one-hour sessions with mentors you are interested in meeting in-person or remotely. |
Table Talks | A series of in-person group mentorship sessions that bring together mentors and mentees to network and discuss important topics that effect lawyers. |
AdvisorLink | A service linking lawyers or articling students with more experienced counsel to answer one-off substantive law inquiries in a wide range of practice areas. |
Indigenous Mentorship Program | A mentorship program where Indigenous Alberta lawyers are matched with Indigenous law students and articling students. It provides an opportunity for students to meet and connect with experienced Indigenous counsel. |
Other Programs
We also offer a variety of other programs for lawyers and students. Find out more by visiting the webpages below.
Locum Connect | A conduit for interested locums and potential employers to connect with each other. |
Practice Management Consultations | A member of the Practice Management team will meet with you in-person over the course of several months to assist you in addressing any practice management problems. |
SoloNet | An online community for sole and small firm practitioners to share knowledge, ideas and experience. |
Indigenous Summer Student Program |
We work with law firms and organizations as well as law schools across Canada to connect prospective employers with first and second year Indigenous law students. |
Assist* | A support program for lawyers facing a personal or professional issue, where you would get connected with a trained volunteer lawyer with experience in, or insight into, that issue. |
*While the Law Society is the primary funder of Assist, the program is operated independently and is voluntary and confidential. Individuals seeking help are not identified to the Law Society of Alberta or any other entity.
