The Chief Justice practiced law in Alberta and British Columbia and her judicial career was launched in April 1981 with her appointment to the Vancouver County Court. She left as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia in April 1989, on her appointment to the Supreme Court of Canada.
