- Find a Lawyer
The Lawyer Directory allows people to search for information on a specific lawyer or find a lawyer who can help you with your legal issue based on certain search criteria.
Members of the public can find a lawyer to assist with their legal needs by searching by name, firm, location, practice areas, language(s) spoken, gender, and whether a lawyer offers limited scope retainers. There are approximately 7,500 lawyers in private practice who are eligible to provide legal assistance.
Please note that the Law Society of Alberta does not recommend or endorse individual lawyers. It is still up to the public to research and choose a lawyer based on their individual needs.

- To better understand what a lawyer’s practising status means and if they can assist you, refer to our how-to guide.
- To help you find which area of law is relevant to your legal issue, visit our Practice Areas resource for the public.
- For more information on the discipline and hearing record for an individual lawyer, visit the Law Society website.
