Remembering Former Law Society President, Donald R. Cranston, KC
The Law Society is deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Donald R. Cranston, KC. Don served as a Bencher from 2015 to 2019 and as our 2018–2019 Law Society President. Most recently he served as Board Chair for the Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association before stepping down in June 2024.
“Don’s contributions to Alberta’s legal community are beyond measure. His leadership and commitment to service was steadfast and admirable,” says current President, Deanna Steblyk, KC. “I was privileged to work alongside Don in my first year as Bencher and he was always humble, kind and patient. He will be greatly missed.”

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 1:30 p.m. at the Royal Glenora Club.
